UFC 119 PredictionsBy: Ankur
UFC 119 takes place tomorrow night at Canseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. Let’s take a closer look at the matchups, and my predictions for each fight.
Frank Mir vs Mirko “Cro Crop” Filipovic : Mirko, has had a successful Pride fighting career, but his transfer over the UFC, hasn’t been so pretty. Cro Crop, hasn’t been any big names in the UFC at the moment, and his most notible win has come against Pat Barry. Other names he has beaten are, Eddie Sanchez, Mostapha Outta- Wurk and Anthony Perosh, not household names at all. He does have some dangerous weapons in his arsenal, that Mir will need to watch out for like his leg kicks, but besides that, I believe Mirko is on the downfall of his career. Frank Mir, is focused and has returned to the old Frank Mir, we’re used to seeing and love from him. Mir, has improved his stand up and you’ve seen him use that against Cheick Kongo, Minotauro Nogueira. We all know about Mir’s ground game, which is exceptional and has the ability to submit any opponent he faces.
Prediction: Mir via submission
Ryan “Darth” Bader vs Antonio Rogerio “Mintoro” Nogueira: Ryan puts his perfect record on the line, and I do have a lot of respect for Rogerio, but at the end of the day, I believe Bader is younger, quicker, and has some power in his hands for sure. Nogueira, should try and keep this fight standing up, but at the same time will need to avoid Bader’s quick hands, which is a big “if”. Prediction: Bader via unanimous decision.
Evan Dunham vs Sean “The Muscle Shark” Sherk: Sean, seemed like to get away from what has gotten him here lately. Not a lot of people are talking about Sherk, but tomorrow night, he has the ability to redeem himself and work himself up the ladder to hopefully challenging for a title shot after a couple victories. Dunham, hasn’t done much in his career, yes his record is 11-0, but not really any big name victories. Most UFC fans, don’t even know who Evan Dunham is, at the end of the fight, I think Sherk will win take it down. Prediction: Sherk via knockout
Chris “Lights Out” Lytle vs Matt “The Terror” Serra: Serra is an animal in the ring, but he hasn’t fought in a long while, and his inactivity will be his downfall come Saturday night. Chris Lytle, has never been submitted in his career and I don’t think that’ll change infront of his home crowd. With the fans behind him, I believe Lytle will come out on top. Prediction: Lytle via unanimous decision
