MTV The Buried Life Season 2 Premiere and Trailer

The much anticipated show, The Buried Life, which debuted January 18th, 2010 on MTV will be returning to the airwaves Monday September 27th, 2010 for a second season. Tony DiSanto, President of Programming for MTV has decided to pick up the show for a second season. The show follows the adventures of four friends Duncan, Ben, Jonnie and Dave as they travel the country trying to complete a list of  100 things they want to do before they die. For each item they cross off their list, they help a stranger accomplish one of their dreams. The first season did really well and attracted great ratings for MTV.

Last season the guys did many things from delivering a baby, to reuniting a father and son who hadn’t spoken in 17 years. They also crashed a party at the Playboy Mansion which is the hardest thing to do. After an attempt during the season to play basketball with Barack Obama, which was turned down, the guys crossed off #95: Play ball with Obama, after spending time shooting a few hoops with the President at the White House.

Four years ago, “The Buried Life” started when Duncan Penn, Ben Nemtin, Dave Lingwood and Jonnie Penn, decided to make a list of everything they wanted to do most in life. The guys promised they would help others achieve their own life goals also, including in Season one helping a young woman who lost her mother in Hurricane Katrina travel to her grave site for the first time ever. They also rewarded students they met by donating computers to a low-income school in Los Angeles. Even if they weren’t able to achieve the goal on their list they still went out to help people achieve their goals, which is the great thing.

The title “The Buried Life” refers to a poem written by Matthew Arnold in 1852 in which he suggests that our daily lives become so troublesome that our REAL life becomes BURIED and we each have a desire to live our “buried life.”

“The Buried Life” purpose is to get people to write their own list of “100 Things I want to do before I die,” then go out and try to accomplish your goals and on the way help others achieve there goals to. Since the idea began four years back, more than half a million people from around the world have responded online with their own lists.

I have seen the whole first season earlier this year when it came out and I loved the show. It’s an amazing show with laughs along the way coupled with heart warming gestures. I can’t wait for Season 2 to premiere September 27th at 10:30pm. Here are some of the things they will try to accomplish in Season 2: #12 Streak and try to get away with it, #27 Marry a stranger in Vegas, #36 Street fight, #49 Crash a parade and #54 Make a million dollars.
