UFC 118 Toney vs Couture Preview

This Saturday night, the headlines will read "MMA vs Boxing," which sport will reign supreme? For the first time ever, a heavyweight boxing champion is going to enter the octagon and answer the questions that many fans have had since the emergence of the UFC. Who would win in a fight? A boxer or a UFC fighter? The headline of UFC 118's card is none other than heavyweight boxer James Toney against the veteran beast of the UFC, Randy Couture. UFC Lightweight Championship: BJ Penn .vs. Frankie Edgar After the controversial finish the last time these two met, you can bet that BJ Penn will be fired up and will come out blazing in the first round, and try to score a quick knockout. I definitely don't see it going to a decision this time. I see it going no further than the second round. Prediction: BJ Penn via TKO in round 2 Randy Couture .vs. James Toney This is the fight that seems to be generating the most interest. The boxing .vs. MMA debate will be decided in this fight. No doubt that Toney has a puncher's chance, but I don't think he has much chance once Couture begins landing leg kicks and takes him to the ground. With only 4 months of MMA training, how good could his takedown defense possibly be? Then again, at 47 years of age, does Couture have the strength to take down a man of Toney's size and control him on the ground? I think he will. Prediction: Randy Couture via submission in round 1. Kenny Florian .vs. Gray Maynard This fight will likely have title implications. The winner of this could very well be in line for a title shot at some point this year. This is a tough one to call, so I'm going to take a gamble and go with the underdog. Prediction: Gray Maynard
