The Bulls,Celtics and Knicks all interested in Rudy Fernandez!!By: Pun
If you all haven’t heard this offseason, Rudy Fernandez has said that he doesn’t wanna play anymore for the Portland Trail Blazers and also has gone as far as saying that he would like to play overseases in Europe.
Fernandez has one year left at $1.25 million left on his contract with a team option for $2.1 million to follow in 2011-12. Fernandez could be a huge steal for a team, if I was out there looking for some scoring off the bench this is your guy to get. He is a very solid shooter all around especially from long distance. In 2008-09 season Fernandez set the NBA rookie record for the most 3 pointers in a season with 159. This past season was a down year for him, he only played in 62 games and averaged 8.1 points per game, 2.6 rebounds, 1 steal a game and averaged 23 minutes a game. Year before that in 08-09 season thats where he averaged 10.5 points per game.
This is where the problem is, Portland Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan doesn’t see Rudy as someone to hand the ball to. We all know that they want Brandon Roy taking most of the shots a night and also they got Miller and Aldridge. Honestly off the bench why wouldn’t you wanna use Fernandez and give the kid his shots he is a very talent player and could help that squad a lot.
Now Andy Miller who is Fernandez agent, spoke to Hoopshype.com and had this to say:
“Portland and I have had numerous discussions, almost daily, on the situation,” Andy Miller told HoopsHype.com. “I think this situation is headed for a collision course because Rudy’s perspective on where he wants to be and what he wants to do and how he wants to accomplish it is on the opposite of the spectrum from where Portland sees the situation.”I don’t think the relationship is reparable.”
This is just a dissapointing thing to see in Portand, cause Fernandez is a good young player who has the skills to be a great reserve player who can provide great things on the offensive end. Now there are rumors out there the Bulls,Celtics and Knicks are all interested in acquirring him. Knicks have even reportedly offered Wilson Chandler for Fernandez, Bulls and Celtics have offered first round pick in exchange for him. Lets see where he goes, if he is smart Fernandez should keep quit now and just stick to playing basketball and helping a team win. This kid has the talent to help any team he goes to. Lets all see how this saga ends.
